Bangladesh, Türkiye Seek Defense Collaboration


(MENAFN) Bangladesh’s army chief emphasized the importance of enhanced defense sector collaboration with Türkiye during the visit of the head of Türkiye’s Defense Industries Secretariat to the South Asian nation on Tuesday.

Haluk Gorgun held discussions with Bangladesh’s interim leader Muhammad Yunus, along with senior military officials, aiming to deepen bilateral relations and boost defense cooperation.

Gorgun and his delegation met Yunus at the State Guest House in Dhaka, where they explored topics of shared interest, according to a statement from Yunus' office.

Prior to this, Gorgun also met with Bangladesh’s military chief, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, as well as Bangladesh Navy chief Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan.

In the meeting with the army chief, both parties talked about enhancing the current defense cooperation between Bangladesh and Türkiye.

Gorgun pledged “cooperation and support” to aid Bangladesh’s defense industry advancement, as noted in a statement from Zaman’s office.

The army chief conveyed his ambition to manufacture “various modern military equipment and develop defense technologies in Bangladesh in close cooperation with Türkiye,” the statement added.
