UPC Renewables, ACEN To Jointly Develop Over 500 MW Of Clean Energy Projects In India

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, July 8 (KNN) Renewable energy developer UPC Renewables and energy platform ACEN on Monday announced the joint development of over 500 megawatts (MW) of clean energy projects in India.

The upcoming projects - a 420 MW solar farm in Rajasthan's Barmer district and a 120 MW wind farm in Karnataka - are scheduled for completion by early 2027.

Together, the facilities are expected to generate approximately 1,158 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually, enough to power an estimated 241,000 homes and offset more than 876,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

Patrice Clausse, ACEN International CEO and Group Chief Investment Officer, emphasised the strategic nature of the partnership:“Our enduring collaboration with UPC Renewables has been instrumental in enabling disciplined capital deployment across high-potential markets like India.”

The Barmer solar farm alone is projected to produce 767 GWh of power annually, benefiting from the region's high solar irradiance.

The Karnataka wind farm is expected to generate 391 GWh per year, leveraging favourable monsoonal wind patterns and topography.

Beyond environmental benefits, the projects are also expected to drive local development. Over 1,500 green jobs are anticipated to be created during the construction phase, providing a significant boost to employment and regional economies.

Brian Caffyn, Chairman and Group CEO, UPC Renewables, noted the significance of this new phase of investment.“Following the successful deployment of 630 MWp of solar capacity in India, this next phase further strengthens our trusted partnership with ACEN and the excellent team in India driving this vision forward,” he said.

The announcement underscores India's continuing appeal as a destination for large-scale renewable investments and highlights the critical role of global partnerships in accelerating the country's transition to sustainable energy.
