(MENAFN) Iran announced that the number of people killed in Israeli attacks between June 13 and 24 has reached 1,060, according to statements made by the head of the country’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, Saeed Ohadi.

Speaking during a televised interview on state media, Ohadi indicated that the death toll could climb even higher due to the large number of severely wounded victims and bodies that have not yet been identified.

Reports stated that Israel launched a wave of large-scale airstrikes on June 13, targeting a range of military and nuclear-related sites inside Iran. The attacks reportedly resulted in the deaths of high-ranking military officials, nuclear experts, and civilians, while also leaving many injured.

In response, Iran carried out multiple missile and drone assaults on Israeli territory, which led to further casualties and destruction.

After 12 days of intense exchanges, both countries agreed to a ceasefire on June 24, halting the ongoing conflict.
