Seven People Missing After Fireworks Warehouse Explosion In California


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, July 3 (KUNA) -- US authorities in the State of California announced Wednesday that seven people were missing after an explosion occurred at a fireworks warehouse in northern California, which led to a large fire in the area.
An explosion followed by a fire broke out at a fireworks warehouse in the city of Esparto, Northern California, injuring two people and leaving at least seven missing, according to a statement by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
Emergency crews are working to control the fire, while fire marshals have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident and whether the warehouse met safety and licensing requirements for a fireworks storage facility.
US media reported that several cities near the fire announced the cancellation of fireworks displays scheduled for the Fourth of July's Independence Day celebrations. (end)
