Trump Denies Any Talks with Iran
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump declared on Monday that he has not made any proposals to Iran and is not personally involved in any discussions with the nation.
“Tell phony Democrat Senator Chris Coons that I am not offering Iran ANYTHING ... nor am I even talking to them,” Trump stated on social media, rejecting any claims about his communication with Tehran.
He further condemned former President Barack Obama’s 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), describing it as “the stupid ‘road to a Nuclear Weapon JCPOA (which would now be expired!)’.”
Trump’s 2018 decision to unilaterally exit the agreement set the stage for the current deadlock with Iran over its nuclear enrichment program.
The US president also reiterated his assertion that recent US military strikes had successfully demolished Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, despite intelligence assessments indicating that the damage may have only delayed the program by a few months.
“I am not even talking to them since we totally OBLITERATED their Nuclear Facilities,” he emphasized, referring to US attacks earlier this month targeting sites in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.
These remarks by Trump come amid ongoing international discussions about the future of Iran’s enriched uranium reserves and the possibility of renewed diplomatic engagement.
While some US officials have expressed a willingness to engage in talks, the president’s statements reveal a resolute position following recent tensions between the two countries.
