Trump Dismisses Iran Talks Claims
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump declared Monday that he has not extended any offers to Iran and is not involved in any form of communication with the country’s leadership.
“Tell phony Democrat Senator Chris Coons that I am not offering Iran ANYTHING ... nor am I even talking to them,” Trump wrote on social media, dismissing any speculation that discussions were underway with Tehran.
He also took aim at former President Barack Obama, sharply criticizing the 2015 Iran nuclear accord—officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)—which he derided as “the stupid ‘road to a Nuclear Weapon JCPOA (which would now be expired!)’”
Trump’s decision in 2018 to unilaterally withdraw the United States from the JCPOA significantly contributed to the current tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
The president reiterated his controversial assertion that recent US military actions had devastated Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, despite assessments from US intelligence agencies indicating the strikes may have only delayed Iran’s progress by several months.
“I am not even talking to them since we totally OBLITERATED their Nuclear Facilities,” Trump stated, referring to earlier strikes this month targeting locations in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.
His remarks arrive amid intensifying global scrutiny of Iran’s enriched uranium reserves and renewed discussion over potential diplomatic avenues.
Although some US officials have hinted at a willingness to reengage diplomatically, Trump’s comments underscore a hardened position in the wake of heightened hostilities.
On Sunday, Trump also posted a pointed message interpreted as directed at Israeli leadership: “MAKE THE DEAL IN GAZA. GET THE HOSTAGES BACK!!”
