Death Toll In Kenyan Protests Rises To 19
Nairobi: The death toll in the protests that swept across several Kenyan cities over the past few days has risen to 19 dead, in addition to 15 missing, and 531 injured.
Thousands took to the streets of Kenya on Wednesday to mark the first anniversary of mass protests against tax increases that rocked the country last year.
However, what began as a peaceful demonstration descended into chaos.
Youths clashed with security forces, set fires, and tore paving stones to throw at police, who responded with tear gas and sound bombs. Angry protesters also tore down at least two police stations.
