Arab Parliament Underlines Comprehensive Political Solutions To Resolve Crises
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
CAIRO, June 28 (KUNA) -- Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammad Al-Yamahi stressed on Saturday that sustainable solutions to the region's crises can only be achieved through comprehensive political tracks that guarantee the unity of the nation state, preserve its sovereignty, and put an end to the suffering of its people, away from foreign intervention.
Al-Yamahi's remarks came in a speech before the closing session of the first session of the fourth legislative term of the Arab Parliament, held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
Al-Yamahi pointed out that the meeting is held amidst one of the most delicate and complex Arab and regional stages, amid successive crises and enormous challenges that require unity, firmness in stance and prioritization of Arab people above all else.
He reiterated that the Palestinian cause will remain a top priority for the Arab Parliament as it is the central Arab issue.
He stated that while the international community was preoccupied with the developments of the Iran-Israel war and its accelerating repercussions, the occupation took advantage of this situation to escalate its crimes against the Palestinian people.
The viciousness of these crimes reached the point of targeting innocent civilians waiting in line for aid, he explained.
"Yesterday, we had the honor of heading a large delegation of members of the Arab Parliament to the city of Rafah to closely monitor the conditions of the wounded Palestinians", he added.
Al-Yamahi called on all countries of the world and international and regional institutions to quickly provide urgent humanitarian and relief aid to save the Palestinian people from starvation.
He renewed his appeal to all international institutions, foremost among them the UN Security Council, to end this open massacre and restore the Palestinian people's right to life, dignity and freedom.
He pointed out that the region has witnessed grave developments, stressing that the occupation's deliberate resort to military tools, will only increase escalation and destruction in the region.
Al-Yamahi condemned the attacks the Israeli occupation carried out against the state of Iran, noing that confronting the occupation's aggression does not in any way justify undermining the sovereignty and security of any Arab state. Hence, the strong condemnation of the blatant aggression carried out by Iran against the State of Qatar.
He expressed hope that reaching a permanent ceasefire would be the beginning of the return of calm and stability to the region and the beginning of directing the world's attention, towards the suffering of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause.
He pointed out that despite the grave challenges and the accelerating regional circumstances, the session was rich with achievements, whether at the level of committee work or in the field of parliamentary diplomacy, as the Arab Parliament approved a number of qualitative decisions, recommendations and strategic visions and launched parliamentary initiatives.
