Israeli Airstrike Kills Family in Lebanon
(MENAFN) Media outlets reported that three members of a Lebanese family were killed on Tuesday when an Israeli drone targeted their vehicle in southern Lebanon, despite an ongoing ceasefire.
The attack occurred on the Nabatieh-Kfar Dajjal road in Lebanon’s Nabatieh district. According to Lebanese media, two missiles struck a civilian car, engulfing it in flames.
The country’s Ministry of Public Health, via its Public Health Emergency Operations Center, confirmed the deaths of all three occupants.
A security source speaking to a news outlet identified the victims as Hajj Haitham Bakri—a local currency exchange worker—and his two sons.
Eyewitness accounts and statements from the same security source revealed that the strike followed an intense wave of aerial bombardment. On Monday afternoon, Israeli fighter jets launched approximately 20 airstrikes in under 15 minutes, focusing on Hezbollah positions north of the Litani River.
These incidents unfolded despite a ceasefire agreement established on November 27, 2024, between Israel and Hezbollah. That truce had ended over a year of intermittent hostilities linked to the broader conflict in Gaza.
Nevertheless, the Israeli military has continued launching targeted operations in Lebanon, justifying them as measures to counter Hezbollah “threats.”
