China Poised to Stage High-Tech Arsenal for WWII 80th Anniversary
(MENAFN) China announced Tuesday it will stage a large-scale military parade in September to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, according to Chinese media.
Scheduled for September 3 in Beijing’s iconic Tian'anmen Square, the event will feature not only traditional military formations but also advanced capabilities from emerging warfare domains and elite "quality forces."
China refers to the close of World War II as the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
President Xi Jinping is set to inspect the troops and deliver a keynote address during the commemorative gathering.
Wu Zeke, a senior official with the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission, detailed that the parade will include marching troops, armored units, and air formations. It will also introduce cutting-edge combat technologies such as unmanned systems and intelligent weaponry.
All showcased systems are domestically manufactured and include innovations in unmanned intelligence, underwater combat, network warfare, electronic attack and defense, and hypersonic weapons.
Wu highlighted that the latest iteration of traditional weaponry demonstrates the Chinese military’s capacity to adapt to scientific and technological progress and maintain a strategic edge in future conflicts.
