(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
ANKARA, June 18 (KUNA) -- President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed, Wednesday, that the country was ready to mediate between Iran and the Israeli occupation, affirming that his country would prepared for any possible "negative scenario" that may arise from the current regional escalation.
In a speech during the Justice and Development Party's (AK Party) parliamentary group meeting in Ankara, Erdogan stated, "We are closely following Israel's terrorist attacks against Iran. All our institutions are on alert regarding the possible effects of these attacks on Turkiye".
He stressed on the importance of achieving peace and stability in the region, as well as saying, "We sincerely fight for peace, but we respond in kind if confronted."
He also reiterated Turkyie's commitment to preventing a broader disaster resulting from Israeli occupation, reaffirming continued diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions.
Erdogan condemned Israel occupation's widening military operation across, Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iran, asserting that it is entirely "natural, legitimate and lawful" for Iran to defend itself against Israel's "banditry and state terrorism,"
He warned that Israeli occupation's possession of nuclear weapons while refusing to comply with global regulations poses a grave threat.
Erdogan stressed that silence in the face of Israel occupation's action amounts to approval by the International community.
He also highlighted Turkyie's progress in building a comprehensive national defense infrastructure, including domestic air defense systems, reaffirming Ankara's determination to achieve full independence in its defense industry. (end)
