U.S. Embassy in Israel Urges Staff to Shelter Amid Iran Tensions
(MENAFN) Amid escalating hostility with Iran, the US Embassy in Israel ordered all American government staff and their families on Tuesday to remain sheltered in place "until further notice." This directive comes as security concerns intensify in the region.
The embassy announced it would be closed Tuesday, citing the current security environment and adherence to instructions from Israel’s Home Front Command.
In a clear statement, the embassy emphasized, "The U.S. Embassy is not in a position at this time to evacuate or directly assist Americans in departing Israel."
Furthermore, the embassy confirmed that Ben Gurion Airport is still shut down, with no commercial or charter flights available. Israeli seaports are also closed, restricting all travel in and out of the country.
Tensions have surged since last Friday, when Israel carried out a series of coordinated airstrikes and drone attacks targeting multiple sites in Iran, including military bases and nuclear facilities. In response, Tehran launched retaliatory strikes, further intensifying the conflict.
