U.S. Embassy in Israel Reports Travel Restrictions

(MENAFN) The United States Embassy in Israel released a security warning on Thursday, banning its personnel from journeys beyond the broader regions of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Beersheba.

This measure comes in response to concerns over a potential Iranian retaliation.

Citing “increased regional tensions,” the embassy’s statement announced that American government workers and their families are now limited to staying within the wider Tel Aviv area—including Herzliya, Netanya, and Even Yehuda—as well as Jerusalem and Be’er Sheva. This limitation will remain in place “until further notice.”

Despite the restrictions, movement is still allowed between Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Beersheba. The embassy confirmed that travel to and from Ben Gurion Airport and along Route 1, which connects Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to the Allenby Bridge border crossing into Jordan, remains unrestricted.

In a public reminder to U.S. nationals in Israel, the embassy urged individuals to maintain “caution and increased personal security awareness,” emphasizing the importance of knowing the nearest shelter’s location in case of a “red alert.”

It highlighted that security incidents such as mortar, rocket, missile strikes, and “unmanned aircraft system (UAS) intrusions” can occur “without any warning.”

Describing the situation as “complex,” the embassy warned that conditions could “change quickly.”

Reports in U.S. media have suggested that Israel might be preparing a military operation against Iran in relation to its nuclear development.

Earlier, on Wednesday, the United States approved the voluntary withdrawal of nonessential personnel and military families from several sites across the Middle East, reflecting growing unease in the region.
