Crimson Cup Coffee Takes Cuppers To Honduras For Immersive Coffee And Community Service Experience
COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea recently sent several team members – known internally as cuppers – to Honduras for an immersive experience in coffee farming and community service. The trip marked another step in the company's ongoing commitment to ethical sourcing and building lasting relationships in coffee-growing regions.

The visit focused on the Siguatepeque region, where the award-winning roaster has maintained direct relationships with small-plot coffee farmers since 2011. Through its Friend2Farmer® initiatives, the company has provided resources to improve coffee quality and the quality of life for farmers and their communities. This long-standing partnership includes direct trade purchasing, sustainability efforts and joint investment in local development.
During the trip, the cuppers toured a coffee farm to observe the picking and processing stages that shape the quality of Crimson Cup's beans. They met with farmers, shared meals and experienced firsthand the care and expertise behind every harvest.
The team also participated in community service with Serve Hope International, a nonprofit that supports coffee-growing communities through clean water, housing and education. While on site, they rolled up their sleeves and helped build a new home for a local family – a tangible contribution to Serve Hope's mission.
"More than coffee, this trip was about connection and community," said Dave Eldridge, green coffee buyer. "By working alongside the farmers who grow our beans, we gained deeper insight into their growing processes and community challenges. Sharing that experience helps us better represent their hard work."
Since 2011, Crimson Cup has contributed to a range of community-focused projects in Siguatepeque, including raised drying beds to improve coffee quality, safe housing for families, filtration buckets for clean water and educational resources for local schools. The company has also sponsored service-learning trips for coffee shop owners and local college students to deepen understanding of smallholder coffee systems.
"These efforts support our Focus on Good," said Founder and President Greg Ubert. "We create positive change through our products and relationships around the world that inspire customers to help us make a meaningful impact with every cup we pour."
