Zelensky, Greek PM Discuss Increasing Pressure On Russia

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) During a conversation with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the need to maintain pressure on Russia and continue supporting Ukraine.

The head of Ukrainian state said this in a post on social media , Ukrinform reports.

“I had a good conversation with Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis. We discussed increasing pressure on Russia and the continuation of support for Ukraine. I informed him about my recent contacts with European partners and President Trump. There is a lot of diplomatic work happening these days. Strong pressure and additional sanctions against Russia are needed. No one needs to be reminded that the war continues solely because of Russia's unwillingness to end it,” Zelensky said.

He also thanked the Greek Prime Minister and the entire European Union for the 17th package of sanctions.

“Moscow must be deprived of everything that enables it to finance killing. Greece shares our position and will contribute to increasing the pressure. Of course, it is important to continue supporting Ukraine, our army, our domestic defence production, and to strengthen air defence. We are grateful for Greece's continued readiness to help protect lives,” the president said.

He invited Prime Minister Mitsotakis to take part in the Ukraine – Southeast Europe Summit. According to Zelensky, the Greek Prime Minister confirmed his participation.

As Ukrinform reported, on May 20, EU foreign ministers adopted the 17th package of sanctions against Russia, focusing on nearly 200 vessels from the country's shadow fleet. The new measures also address hybrid threats and human rights violations.

The same day, the UK announced new sanctions on Russia, imposing restrictions on its military, energy, and financial sectors. In particular, 18 vessels from Russia's shadow fleet were added to the UK's sanctions list
