Amazon, Saudi Firm Reveal AI Infrastructure Partnership

(MENAFN) Amazon Web Services (AWS) has joined forces with Humain, a government-backed enterprise in Saudi Arabia, to commit over USD5 billion toward developing cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

This major investment is intended to fuel a strategic alliance aimed at establishing a pioneering “AI Zone” within the kingdom.

The envisioned “AI Zone” will serve as a central hub for advanced technological capabilities.

As described by Amazon, "This first-of-a-kind AI Zone will bring together multiple innovative capabilities, including dedicated AWS AI infrastructure and servers with world-class semiconductors, UltraCluster networks for faster AI training and inference, AWS services like SageMaker and Bedrock, and AI application services such as Amazon Q to advance Saudi Arabia’s mission to be a world leader in AI."

These tools and services are designed to significantly accelerate AI innovation and foster a technologically sophisticated environment.

This initiative closely aligns with the objectives laid out in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 blueprint, which emphasizes the transformation of the country into a diversified and future-ready economy.

The collaboration builds upon Saudi Arabia’s 2024 commitment to fostering an AI-driven economy, symbolizing a crucial milestone toward its aspirations of becoming a dominant force in global artificial intelligence.

According to the statement, "AWS will bring to Saudi Arabia its advanced server and network infrastructure capabilities, as well as its artificial intelligence and machine learning services—including Amazon SageMaker AI, Amazon Bedrock, and Amazon Q, fully managed services for building and scaling generative AI (genAI) applications."

This move not only enhances local technological capabilities but also positions Saudi Arabia as a vital player in the rapidly evolving global AI landscape.
