Alona Kushnirenko: Art As A Calling

(MENAFN- USA Art News) “To create means to breathe, to feel, to live.”

Alona Kushnirenko is a contemporary Ukrainian artist who was born in Zaporizhzhia and found her true calling in painting. As a child, she spent hours drawing, but life led her in a different direction. For many years, she set aside her dream, yet the call of the soul cannot be silenced. Only 12 years ago, she made the final decision to dedicate herself to art.

Her journey began with experiments in polymer clay and decoupage, but she soon realized that true magic lies in paints. Today, Alona is a student at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts, where she deepens her knowledge and hones her technical skills.

Artistic Style and Concept

Alona's works stand out with their expressive color palette and symbolism. She works in various techniques-oil, acrylic, watercolor-and experiments with textured materials such as clay and papier-mâché.

Some of her key series include:

“Different” – A series dedicated to people who are not afraid to be themselves. Through color contrasts and abstract forms, the artist conveys the uniqueness of individuals.

“White Horses” – A symbol of freedom, harmony, and inner strength. The white horse in her paintings seems to break free from the ordinary, embodying forward movement.

“The Seasons, Countryside Vacation, and Joy of the Wild Flowers” – A series that captures the changing seasons through a palette of colors and brushstroke textures, evoking the natural cycle of life. Inspired by memories of rural vacations, warm summer evenings, the carefree nature of childhood, and harmony with nature.

A series of paintings on Ukrainian themes – Reflecting national identity through traditional imagery, symbolism, folk art, and landscapes of her homeland.
