Diesel Reservoir Damaged At Occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP - MFA

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has received a report of diesel reservoir damage at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

This was reported on X by the spokesman for the MFA, Heorhii Tykhyi , Ukrinform saw.

“We have received reports of diesel reservoir damage at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. The spilled fuel was enough to power the station's emergency generators for 25 days. Russians not only stole the plant, but they are unable to manage its basic safety,” he noted.

The MFA spokesman stated that the incident is a direct result of Russia's reckless replacement of licensed Ukrainian experts with unqualified, temporary Russian operatives.

Tykhyi added that allowing this situation to continue will only lead to new accidents and danger.

“ZNPP must be returned to Ukrainian control; this is the only way to prevent further incidents,” he stressed.

As reported earlier, the Zaporizhzhia NPP was seized by Russian troops on March 4, 2022. In September, the plant completely stopped generating electricity. Russian troops and military equipment are based on the territory of the nuclear facility. The external power supply lines of the Zaporizhzhia NPP were repeatedly damaged due to shelling.

In June 2023, the Russians blew up the Kakhovka HPP. Because of this, the Zaporizhzhia NPP only has enough water for cooling when operating in a cold shutdown state.
