Five die in car rollover accident in Afghanistan
(MENAFN) Five individuals lost their lives on Tuesday night when the car they were traveling in veered off the road and overturned in the Shaikh Rabat region of Farkhar district, Takhar province. According to provincial police spokesman Qari Zabihullah Hakimi, the fatal accident involved a Land Cruiser that rolled over due to reckless driving.
Security forces have transported the deceased to a close health facility, Hakimi stated. The tragic incident underscores the persistent issue of road accidents caused by careless driving, congested roadways, and the absence of proper traffic signage on Afghanistan's deteriorating highways.
In a separate development, four fatalities and six injuries were reported from two distinct road accidents that occurred in the eastern provinces of Wardak and Ghazni just days prior. Reckless driving and inadequate infrastructure continue to be leading contributors to loss of life on the war-torn nation's roads.
