Russian Foreign Minister Proposes Creation of Pan-Eurasian Platform
(MENAFN) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has proposed the establishment of a "pan-Eurasian" platform, designed to bring together nations across the continent to address common challenges and explore opportunities for collaboration.
This initiative was discussed during a meeting at the Gorchakov Diplomacy Fund in Moscow on Monday.
Lavrov pointed out that, unlike Africa and Latin America, Eurasia currently lacks a unified continental organization or forum where all the countries from the region can meet on a regular basis without any exclusions.
He encouraged experts at the Gorchakov Diplomacy Fund to investigate the feasibility of setting up such a platform to foster greater cooperation among Eurasian nations.
In his remarks, Lavrov also touched on the evolving global order, highlighting the rise of a "fairer multipolar world order." He noted that new global power centers outside the Western sphere, particularly China and India, continue to gain strength.
The minister further criticized the West's reluctance to acknowledge these geopolitical shifts, suggesting that the West often adopts a defensive stance when efforts to democratize international relations emerge.
