Cat's fatal beating prompts arrest warrant in Bangladesh

(MENAFN) A significant legal move has unfolded in Bangladesh's capital, Dhaka, as a metropolitan court released an arrest warrant for Akbar Hossain Shiblu, implicated in the brutal killing of a domestic cat.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaque's order, delivered on Sunday, signifies the court's acknowledgment of the gravity of the charges brought against Shiblu, stemming from an incident that occurred on February 1st.

The case was formally filed on February 5th by Nafisa Naurin Chowdhury, acting on behalf of the People for Animal Welfare Foundation in Bangladesh, a prominent organization dedicated to animal rights.

The foundation's complaint detailed the distressing circumstances surrounding the cat's demise, stating that the animal had gone missing on the aforementioned date.

Crucially, the complaint included evidence obtained from CCTV footage, which allegedly captured Shiblu inflicting fatal injuries upon the cat by kicking it. This visual evidence played a key role in the court's decision to issue the arrest warrant.
