Royal Jordanian Launches Direct Flights Between Amman, Washington

Amman, March 23 (Petra) – Royal Jordanian Airlines has launched a direct flight route between Amman and Washington, D.C., with two weekly flights, reinforcing its position as a key carrier connecting the Middle East and North America.
The new route will operate on Tuesdays and Sundays using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. This expansion aims to enhance air connectivity between the two capitals, catering to government, business, and tourism travelers, as well as expatriate communities.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Transport Wissam Tahtamouni, CEO of Airport International Group Nicolas Devillier, Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy Rohit Nepal, and Chairman of the Jordan Tourism Board Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat.
Tahtamouni underscored the route's significance in strengthening Jordan's role as a regional aviation hub, facilitating passenger transfers from Washington to Amman and beyond while also stimulating tourism in the Kingdom.
Royal Jordanian CEO Samer Majali described the new route as a strategic addition to the airline's network, complementing its existing direct flights to Chicago, New York, and Detroit. He highlighted the airline's commitment to enhancing bilateral ties between Jordan and the United States and offering an exceptional travel experience for passengers.
The expansion aligns with Royal Jordanian's strategic vision to increase its destinations to 60 and grow its fleet to 42 aircraft in the coming years. The airline has recently introduced five modern Embraer aircraft, with plans to add three more, as well as new A320neo aircraft for medium-haul routes and B787-9 aircraft for long-haul flights. These aircraft will feature upgraded cabins, advanced entertainment systems, and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Jordan, Rohit Nepal, said:“This new route provides greater opportunities for trade, travel, and tourism between the United States and Jordan.”
