Egyptian foreign minister holds talks with Lebanese, Iranian counterparts
(MENAFN) On Saturday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held separate phone conversations with his Lebanese and Iranian counterparts to discuss the latest regional developments, according to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's statement.
In his discussion with Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's strong support for Lebanon's national institutions and stability, especially in light of security challenges. He reaffirmed Egypt’s opposition to any actions that threaten the security and stability of the Lebanese people.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of upholding the ceasefire in southern Lebanon, calling for the complete and unconditional withdrawal of Israeli forces. He also urged the Lebanese Army to be empowered to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701, emphasizing that the solution "must be applied fully and simultaneously by all parties without selectivity."
In his conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Abdelatty discussed the escalating tensions across Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen, highlighting the necessity of de-escalation and containment of the crisis.
