North Korea announces successful surface-to-air missile test
(MENAFN) North Korea's state media announced on Friday that they had successfully tested a new surface-to-air guided weapon system. The Missile Administration conducted a test to assess the combat effectiveness of this recently developed air defense system, which is now being mass-produced, as reported by local media.
Kim Jong-un, the country's leader, supervised the launch, but the exact missile type and test location were not revealed. Photos released by the state depicted the missile hitting a target over the ocean and exploding in midair.
This test followed North Korea's earlier evaluation of the "Byolji-1-2" surface-to-air missile, which occurred during joint military drills conducted by the United States and South Korea in April 2024.
