Israeli Police Arrest 12 Demonstrators Near Netanyahu’s House

(MENAFN) On Wednesday night, Israeli police detained 12 demonstrators close to Premier Benjamin Netanyahu’s house on Gaza Street in West Jerusalem.

The protests were sparked by the dismissal of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and the government’s response to the hostages in Gaza.

The police issued a statement on X, mentioning, “Riots broke out in Jerusalem, and we arrested 12 suspects for disturbing public order, making threats, and assaulting civilians and officers.”

Authorities reported that security forces, with the help of border police, were working to restore order in the area.

Demonstrators allegedly set fires on the road, endangering others, which led to police using fire extinguishers to control the flames.

Violence ensued between the protesters and security forces, with the police deploying skunk water to break up the crowd. During the altercations, both a police officer and a civilian were assaulted.

Based on a news agency, a police officer suffered minor injuries during the conflict and was taken to the hospital for medical attention.
