Deriva Energy's 100 MW Wildflower Solar Facility Now Operational
In addition to its environmental benefits, Wildflower Solar provides significant economic advantages to DeSoto County. The project employed close to 300 construction workers during installation and will continue to offer long-term employment opportunities while contributing to the local tax base and selling renewable power to Toyota Motor North America. Contracting for renewable energy from the Wildflower project stands at the forefront of Toyota's corporate sustainability initiatives.
"With Wildflower Solar operational, we are thrilled to continue advancing to Toyota's goal of achieving carbon neutrality in our operations by 2035," said Becky Martin, sustainability manager at Toyota Motor North America. "Mississippi is an important state for us, where we manufacture the Corolla. We're glad to be putting more renewables on the power grid, a key step in reducing our overall carbon footprint, as well."
