Zelenskyy Criticizes Putin for Late Response to U.S. Ceasefire Proposal

(MENAFN) On Monday, Ukrainian Leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted that Russian Leader Vladimir Putin has yet to agree to a suggestion from the United States regarding a 30-day ceasefire, which has been on the table for nearly a week.

In a virtual message, Zelenskyy pointed out the significance of the approaching one-week mark since the proposal for a ceasefire covering air, sea, as well as front-line operations was made.

He emphasized, "It is very important that tomorrow marks one week since the US proposal for a ceasefire in the sky, at sea, and on the front lines has been on the table."

He further stated that the implementation of this proposal could have begun earlier, as "every day in wartime is a matter of human lives." Zelenskyy underscored that after nearly a week, it has become clear to the world—"even to those who refused to acknowledge the truth for the past three years"—that Putin is the one prolonging the conflict. "For a week now, Putin has been unable to force out a simple ‘yes’ to the ceasefire proposal," he added.

In a separate development, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine had successfully tested a long-range drone capable of flying 3,000 kilometers (1,864 miles).
