Secretary of State says U.S. Will Continue Canceling Visas for Hamas-related people
(MENAFN) On Sunday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed that the United States will persist in canceling visas and permanent residency permits for people associated with Hamas.
His statement happened after the detention of Mahmoud Khalil, an activist taken into custody by federal immigration officials.
Talking to a news agency, Rubio highlighted that those participating in actions conflicting with American foreign policy—especially at "pro-Hamas events"—would not be permitted to stay in the region.
Khalil, a graduate of Columbia University, was apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers on March 8 at his residence in a university-owned building.
