Over 145,000 Syrians Returned Home Since Fall Of Assad Regime - Turkish VP

ISTANBUL, March 17 (KUNA) -- Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz announced Monday the repatriation of 145,639 Syrians since the fall of Assad Regime in December 2024.
According to Turkish Migration Management data, the total of Syrians who have returned home between 2017 to March 2025 reached 885,642, posted Yilmaz on his X account.
He clarified that the safe and voluntary return process began following the Turkish military operations in northern Syria, adding that it has expedited since the fall of the Assad regime.
Yilmaz noted that the number of repatriated Syrians is expected to increase as the conditions become more secure, and essential services and economic situation improve, especially as Syria is currently undergoing a reconstruction phase. (end)
