
The Engineer Ahmed Abu Al-Qasim Wins The Position Of Secretary-General Of The African Olympic Committees.

The engineer Ahmed Abu Al-Qasim Hashim, President of the Sudanese Olympic Committee, won the position of Secretary-General of the African Olympic Committees (ANOCA), despite the conditions that Sudan is going through casing eruption of war two years ago.
This winning has been praised and joyful from all the sectors of the Sudanese people and especially athletes.
This winning came after competitive elections that witnessed wide regional blocs. Dr. Ali Yousif Al-Sharif, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that this winning reflects the high status he enjoys in both sports and diplomatic fields.
Algerian Mustapha Berraf, the outgoing president of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), was re-elected by acclamation to the presidency of the continental sports association for the Olympic term (2025-2028), during the 22nd Ordinary General Assembly. The Algerian was the only candidate for the position of ANOCA president.
The Foreign Minister praised the significant efforts made by Engineer Ahmed Abu Al-Qasim Hashim in supporting and developing Sudanese sports, in addition to his active role in strengthening popular diplomacy through continuous communication with international figures and bodies, serving Sudan's causes in various forums.
The minister affirmed that this achievement represents a significant addition to Sudan's sports journey and strengthens the role of sports diplomacy in supporting official efforts to raise awareness of national issues on the international stage. He wished him continued success in his new responsibilities.
The Olympic Games are the largest sporting event in Africa and are held every four years under the supervision of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).
As the considering Association of National Olympic Committees in Africa, ANOCA is based in Yaoundé, Cameroon, and oversees sports in Africa. It represents 53 National Olympic Committees.
The federation organizes the Games every four years.
The first games organized by the federation were held in 1965 in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo.
The idea of holding the African Games was conceived by Pierre de Coubertin, who played a significant role in reviving the Olympic movement as the founder of the modern Olympic Games, which began in the late 19th century.
