India On Track To Surpass $800 Billion In Exports: Piyush Goyal

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Mar 15 (KNN) India is set to exceed $800 billion in exports this year, with services exports playing a crucial role, Union Commerce and industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced on Thursday.

Addressing Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and industry associations, Goyal reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting exporters while safeguarding national interests.

The minister praised the resilience of Indian exporters, urging them to leverage global challenges as opportunities for growth.

He called on industry leaders to clearly outline their needs so the government can facilitate better trade negotiations, particularly with key partners like the United States.

Highlighting ongoing bilateral trade discussions, Goyal noted that India is actively pursuing multiple Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). Some of these deals are nearing completion, promising improved market access and increased investments.

He stressed that continuous engagement with industry stakeholders is vital to ensuring favourable trade policies.

Goyal also encouraged exporters to move beyond a protectionist approach, advocating for a confident and ambitious stance in global trade.

He emphasised that India's long-term vision of Viksit Bharat-a developed and prosperous nation-depends on aligning industry efforts with consumer expectations for high-quality, competitively priced goods and services.

The government, he assured, is leaving no stone unturned in securing a bright future for Indian exports, both in merchandise and services.
