Japanese scientists invent world's largest robot hand

(MENAFN) A group of Japanese scientists stated that they invented "the largest of its kind" robot hand that moves using cultivated human muscle tissues.

Scientists anticipate that the biohybrid hand which has five fingers will be used in artificial hands, as reported by a Japanese news agency on Sunday.

The hand, that is 18 centimeters (7.08 inches) in length, consisting of a forearm piece, moves separately using several joints, it also can do complicated finger movements, including grasping as well as moving the tip of tiny items, as stated by the scientists at the University of Tokyo and Waseda University.

The study prepares for strengthening the muscles in a biohybrid robot hand, as mentioned by a professor at the University of Tokyo majoring in in mechanical engineering, Shoji Takeuchi.
"It could lead to realizing a humanlike robot or a precision prosthetic hand," as Takeuchi has stated.
