China urges additional humanitarian aid, economical collaboration in Afghanistan
(MENAFN) On Monday, China urged the continuation of involvement with Afghanistan's transitional government, emphasizing the need to increase humanitarian aid and foster economic collaboration with the nation.
Addressing UN Security Council at a conference, Fu Cong, China's United Nations long-lasting envoy, stated: "Today, Afghanistan remains largely stable with a steadily improving economy and dynamic external relations, but the country also faces multiple challenges in humanitarian areas, development, terrorist threats, women's rights and interests, among others."
Fu stated that China backs the international efforts that aims at strengthening reciprocal reliance with the government and resolving worries by the means of open discussions, underlining the need to sustain commitment in the involvement with Afghanistan’s transitional government.
He called on the Security Council to restore its comprehensive exemptions to the travel restrictions applied on Afghan government officials. He also urged the council to promptly update the 1988 sanctions framework.
Ultimately, to back the restoration of Afghanistan, Fu Cong mandated a rise in the humanitarian aid as well as economical collaboration.
