Kerch Bridge Losing Logistical Significance For Russia Ukrainian Navy
Speaking on a television broadcast, Pletenchuk was asked whether the transportation value of the Kerch Bridge for Russia is diminishing. Ukrinform reports his response.
Pletenchuk explained that the bridge has both logistical and symbolic significance for Russia. However, occupying forces have already begun addressing some supply challenges by using alternative routes through southern Ukraine.
"They (the Russians) are investing in road construction at a rapid pace, expanding transport infrastructure on a large scale to support their forces in the occupied south. As a result, the logistical importance of the bridge will likely continue to decline," he said.
Pletenchuk also noted that Russia is reinforcing security around the Kerch Bridge. This includes water barriers, observation posts, naval patrols, and air defense systems.
