Japan, UK Vow To Deepen Security Cooperation

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TOKYO, March 6 (KUNA) -- Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy on Thursday agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation as each other's closest partners in Asia and Europe as they exchanged views on regional affairs, Japan's Defense Ministry said.
During their meeting in Tokyo, Nakatani and Lammy also shared the recognition that the security of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific is inseparable, the ministry said in a statement.
In addition, the two ministers welcomed the deepening of Japan-UK security cooperation, including the deployment of the carrier strike group to the Indo-Pacific region this year, as well as Global Combat Air Program, it said.
The program is a trilateral project with Italy and aims to develop a next-generation fighter aircraft by 2035. (end)
