KUWAIT, March 6 (KUNA) --
1991 -- Fire extinguishing companies from 27 states begin dousing fires triggered by the Iraqi Regime at some 727 oil wells.
2002 -- The Ministry of Oil declares establishing an independent company, named Kuwait Oil Company, to manage the oil wells in the divided zone. The company, a subsidiary of Kuwait petroleum Corporation, had a KD 120 million capital.
2006 -- The National Assembly (parliament) unanimously endorses the printing and publishing law, allowing licenses to publish newspapers and tasking the judiciary to tackle complaints and holding permits.
2014 -- Kuwait Oil Tankers Company (KOTC) receives the giant oil tanker "Alfintas" from the shipping industry company Daewoo. It has a cargo capacity of 350,000 cubic meters. the KOTC has also taken delivery of the petroleum derivatives tankers "Burgan" from Hyundai Mipo shipbuilding Co., with a cargo capacity of 52,000 cubic meters.
2018 -- The National Assembly approves a bill on enrolling Kuwaiti nationals in the army.
2018 -- The National Assembly unanimously approves the conflict of interests law, aimed at boosting transparency in the public sector and enforcing governance.
2020 -- The cabinet decides to halt air navigation with Bangladesh, the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt for a week as a precaution against the coronavirus.
2021 -- Kuwait holds a funeral for the martyrs who had fallen during the flagrant Iraqi aggression. The procession was held after the authorities received the martyrs' remains from Iraq. Their identity was established through DNA examination.
2022 -- The former MP Dr. Ahmad Al-Khatib dies at the age of 92. He had chaired the constituent assembly in 1962, became a member of the National Assembly in the 1963, 1971, 1975, 1985 and 1992 elections.
2024 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sponsors and attends the official inauguration of Abdullah Al-Salem University. (end)
