Istanbul Airport becomes Europe's busiest air freight hub


(MENAFN) According to Europe's 2024 Annual Traffic Report that was issued by Airports International Council (ACI) on Tuesday, Turkey’s Istanbul Airport turns into Europe's leading air cargo hub in 2024.

Istanbul Airport processed 1.97 million tons of freight in 2024, indicating an increase of around 40 percent in comparison to 2023.

The airport's official X account shared on X: "iGA Istanbul Airport is Europe’s Busiest Air Cargo Hub.”

It further noted: "According to ACI Europe’s 2024 Annual Traffic Report, we are now Europe's busiest air cargo airport, handling 1.97 million tons of cargo – an impressive 39.6% increase from the previous year."

State Airports General Directorate (DHMI) reports demonstrated that Istanbul Airport processed nearly 80 million passengers last year, which makes it the largest as well as Europe’s second-most trafficked airport.
