Kuwait Amb., Indian Official Discuss Enhancing Cultural Ties


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI, Feb 17 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Ambassador to India Meshal Al-Shemali held talks on Monday with the Director General of India's Council for Cultural Relations Nandini Singla in New Delhi to enhance cooperation in the cultural and educational fields.
In a statement to KUNA, Al-Shemali said, during his meeting with Singla the discussed expanding areas of cooperation, especially in cultural and educational areas, pointing out that the Indian-Kuwaiti relation was built on deep-rooted cultural and social fields dating back to centuries.
The ambassador stressed the importance of exchanging visits between officials of the two countries working in the cultural field to enhance communication and open new cultural and scientific windows.
He also underscored the importance of exchange between scholars and intellectuals of the two countries and creating opportunities to engage for students from both the countries.
Al-Shemali pointed out that Kuwait's Ministry of Information launched a program on Kuwait Radio for Indians in April 2024 in response to the needs of the Indian community based on the importance Kuwait leadership gives to spreading Indian culture and arts.
On her part, Singla expressed her happiness on the strong cultural relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of further strengthening and upgrading them.
The first agreement in the field of cultural and educational cooperation was signed in 1970, and the cultural cooperation agreement was renewed for the period 2025-2029 during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2024. (end)
