Russian Su-57 stealth fighter jet makes its first appearance in India
(MENAFN) The Russian Su-57 stealth fighter jet made its first appearance in India, dazzling crowds with its impressive maneuvers at Asia’s largest airshow, Aero India 2025. Piloted by Russian test pilot Sergey Bogdan, the Su-57 showcased its agility through a series of close-circuit aerobatic stunts over Yelahanka Air Force Station in Bengaluru. This marked the jet’s second international performance, following its debut at Airshow China 2024.
Footage from the cockpit, released by Su-57's manufacturer United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), offered stunning views of the jet in flight. UAC highlighted that the Su-57 is the world’s only fifth-generation fighter to have been successfully tested in real combat, including engagements with Western air defense systems. Bogdan confidently described the aircraft’s unique capabilities, proving its effectiveness in actual combat scenarios.
Alexander Mikheev, head of Russia’s defense export agency Rosoboronexport, confirmed that export contracts for the Su-57E, signed in November 2024, would begin fulfilling deliveries this year. Produced at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant, the Su-57 is considered an ideal candidate for India, a nation eager to integrate fifth-generation fighters into its Air Force.
The Su-57 was displayed alongside the U.S. Lockheed Martin F-35, highlighting India’s strategic position as a global hub for defense collaboration and offering an opportunity to compare Eastern and Western stealth fighter technologies.
