Official declares Ukrainian drone assaulting civilian vehicle on Russian highway

(MENAFN) A Ukrainian kamikaze drone targeted a civilian vehicle on a highway in Russia's Zaporozhye Region, but the driver managed to avoid the attack, according to Dmitry Rogozin, a local senator and former Roscosmos space agency head. The incident occurred near the village of Lyubimovka, roughly 20 kilometers from the front, on the road between Melitopol and Vasilyevka. Rogozin shared a 12-second video showing the drone descending toward the car, with an explosion happening just beside the SUV as the driver swiftly swerved to avoid it. The attack reportedly caused no casualties.

Rogozin expressed surprise at the driver's quick reflexes, speculating that the driver either saw the drone in the rearview mirror or received a warning. He stressed that there was no indication the vehicle was military-related, calling the attack an example of Ukrainian forces committing war crimes. The senator also questioned how the drone managed to travel over 20 kilometers, suggesting the presence of an enemy relay system. Russian officials have previously accused Ukraine of targeting civilian infrastructure, including non-military vehicles such as ambulances and a school bus.
