Dubai: Dubai-based carrier flydubai unveiled the first look at its new multimillion-dollar flight training centre on Friday. The airline's Chairman, sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, toured the state-of-the-art facility, which is set to officially open in the coming weeks.

The new 38,000-square-foot Flight Training Centre boasts six simulator bays and is capable of accommodating over 43,000 training hours annually. flydubai had announced plans for the centre during the 2023 Dubai Airshow.

Back then, the airline said the facility would cost $56 million to build.

“The building's modular construction design allows for future expansion. Two simulators have been installed, and two additional simulators are to be added to the facility before the end of 2026,” the airline said.

During his visit, the chairman was given a tour of the Full-Flight Simulator (FFS) and Training Facility located on the grounds of the flydubai Campus, flydubai said in a statement.

The tour included a visit to the briefing/de-briefing rooms, classrooms and high-tech computer-based training rooms, as well as the Boeing 737 Full-Flight Simulators (FFS).

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, said:“I am pleased to see the flydubai Flight Training Centre become a reality today. This is a vital part of flydubai's growth strategy and reflects its unwavering commitment to innovation, increased operational efficiency, and investment in developing its in-house capabilities to support future plans and Dubai's position as a global hub for aviation.”

The increased flexibility in flydubai's pilot training schedules and on-demand access to the simulator bays will enable further expansion of the airline's training capabilities.
