Lebanese army issues new statement regarding recent clashes on Lebanese-Syrian border
(MENAFN) The Lebanese army issued a new statement on Wednesday regarding the recent clashes on the Lebanese-Syrian border. This comes after reconnaissance planes flew over the area, and following previous orders for military units to respond to fire originating from Syria, which has historically targeted Lebanese territory. The army emphasized that its units continue to use appropriate weapons to respond to these attacks.
Additionally, exceptional security measures are being implemented along the border, including increased observation points, patrols, and the establishment of temporary checkpoints. The army command is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary actions in line with the ongoing developments. This follows a prior announcement on Saturday, in which the Lebanese army confirmed it had responded to fire from Syria that had affected Lebanese territory. The army ordered units deployed along the northern and eastern borders to retaliate against the sources of fire targeting Lebanon.
