Trump announces that he would impose 25 percent tariff on all U.S. imports of steel, aluminum


(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald trump announced on Monday that he would impose a 25% tariff on all U.S. imports of steel and aluminum. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump revealed that he would also unveil retaliatory tariffs on Tuesday or Wednesday, with the new measures set to take effect almost immediately.

During his first term, Trump had previously imposed a 25% tariff on steel and 10% on aluminum. However, he later allowed several trade partners, including Canada, Mexico, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, to benefit from duty-free quotas.
