Activities Lined Up To Herald Match For Hope 2025
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The organising committee has lined up exciting activities to herald the Match for Hope 2025 which will be held on February 14 at Stadium 974. While addressing a press conference on Sunday, Match for Hope director Qassim Abdul Latif al-Jaidah said Doha will host several entertainment activities starting Tuesday.
To run until Saturday, there will be promotional activities at Place Vendome, podcasts by celebrities and fan zones outside the stadium. The match will feature football legends Andreas Iniesta, Thierry Henry, Andrea Pirlo and David Silva, former Qatari star Mubarak Mustafa and celebrities Chunkz, IShowSpeed will line up in two teams. Arsene Wenger and Mauricio Pochettino will be the technical directors of the 19 member teams.
The second edition of the match is being held in cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) and the Education Above All Foundation (EAA). Al-Jaidah said the event will raise donations to support education in many countries most notably Lebanon, Palestine, Nigeria, Pakistan and Syria.
According to al-Jaidah, the first edition, which was held at the Ahmed bin Ali World Cup Stadium last year, recorded 34,000 fans and viewed by millions around the world.
Abdulla Salem al-Bakri from EAA said the match bears witness to the fact that sport and education can come together to make changes in the lives of children and youth. The 'Match for Hope' has become a global model that embodies the values of solidarity and social responsibility by combining sports and humanitarian work. More than $8.8mn was raised in the first edition helping more than 70,000 children to return to school. The donations benefited children in more than six countries including Mali, Palestine, Sudan, Pakistan and others.
Stadium 974 venue manager for the Local Organising Committee, engineer Jassim al-Obaidly said the stadium is all set to host the football legends. He urged the fans to arrive early and asked them to use the Gold Line to reach the stadium via Doha Metro.“There will be fan zones around the stadium and the stadium gates will be opened three hours before the start of the match,” he said.
Match for Hope 2025 can be watched live on February 14 in Arabic on Al Kass, beIN Sports, and AboFlah's YouTube channel, and in English on beIN Sports English and Chunkz's YouTube channel. Kick-off is scheduled for 8pm.
