Kuwait's 2Nd Nat'l Robotics Championships Kicks Off In KU

KUWAIT, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- The second edition of Kuwait's National Robotics Championships, which qualifies for international competitions, kicked off in Kuwait University (KU), with over 800 students from public and private schools.
Acting Dean of the College of Science Dr. Mohammad Bin Sabt told KUNA on the sidelines of the championship, organized by KU, Ministry of Education, and the Public Authority for Youth that more than 170 teams are participating, noting that the winning team will represent Kuwait in the VEX global competition.
He explained that teams are competing in VEX Robotics, which qualifies for the international competition, SeaPerch, Aerial Drone, and an Open Innovation Challenge focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and real world problem solving.
Dr. Bin Sabt also announced that KU's College of Science, in collaboration with the College of Life Sciences, plans to launch AI and cybersecurity programs next September.
In a statement to KUNA, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth Nasser Al-Sheikh emphasized that the event aims to foster innovation and support Kuwait's technological development among young people.
Al-Sheikh praised the strong enthusiasm of Kuwaiti youth in these competitions, wishing them success in presenting Kuwait in the best possible way.
The championship also featured an exhibition with government and private schools, ministries, and institutions, including KUNA, who showcased their practical applications and innovative projects in AI. (end)
