WASHINGTON, Feb 9 (KUNA) -- The First Gaza Photography Grant exhibition in Virginia State, US, opened with a focus on highlighting the humanitarian plight of the Palestinian people specifically those residing in the Gaza Strip who were violently targeted by the Israeli Occupation for over a year.
The exhibition, titled "Through Their Lens: Gaza Untold Stories", focused on local photographers in the Gaza Strip telling tales of men, women, and children who despite the genocide and dire situation managed to overcome all upheavals.
Speaking on the occasion to KUNA, Sami Al-Ramyan, Director of the Photo Humanity Grant (PHG) -- the organizers of the event, said that the exhibition was not solely a photography function, it served as a documentation of the horrendous realities in Gaza, sending clear and unfiltered images to the world on the plight of the Gazan people.
The photographers focused on numerous untold stories that the world must know about in order to provide better help for the Gaza Strip, he added.
He mentioned that the Photo Humanity Grant aimed at supporting photographers specialized in documenting humanitarian issues, bringing their work to the global stage.
Back to the Gaza exhibition, Al-Ramyan affirmed that the event was a clear indication that despite death and destruction, photographers managed to catch stories of hope and determination.
He affirmed that the Virginia event was the first of series of exhibitions highlighting the story of the Gaza Strip and its people and hoped that it would be a platform to increase awareness on this serious humanitarian issue.
Various charitable entities from Kuwait and Bahrain supported the organization of the event, Al-Ramyan revealed, noting that a plethora of Palestinian photographers contributed their photos to the exhibition. (end)
