The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine congratulated his interlocutor on his appointment to the highest military post in the Alliance.
Syrskyi expressed confidence that Admiral Dragonet will use his considerable experience to deepen the partnership between NATO and Ukraine, to further the Alliance's steadfast support for Ukraine in its struggle for freedom, independence and stability in the region.
“I conveyed my sincere gratitude to NATO for its support and assistance in providing international military assistance, which is vital to the continuation of our struggle. This also includes the recently established NATO Special Security Assistance and Training Mission to Ukraine (NSATU),” the Commander-in-Chief noted.
He also informed Admiral Dragonet about the current needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in weapons and military equipment and about the situation on the front line, which remains difficult.
Syrskyi said that reforms are being implemented to improve the command and control system in the combat zone. The troops are being transferred to the corps system to improve management efficiency.
“At the same time, we need to reinforce combat brigades with weapons and military equipment. Continued assistance from NATO member states is one of the key components for the overall success of our strategy,” emphasized Syrikyi.
He asked Admiral Dragonet to raise the issue at the NATO Military Committee with the Supreme Allied Commanders (Chiefs of Defence) to facilitate the adoption of relevant decisions by the political leadership of their countries.
“It is extremely important for us to maintain consolidated military support for Ukraine on both sides of the Atlantic, which should be one of our common goals for 2025,” the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized.
The parties also discussed the directions and priorities of the NATO Special Security Assistance and Training Mission for Ukraine. In order to achieve the set goals, Brigadier General Hennadii Shapovalov was appointed as a military representative to NSATU.
The parties also discussed other promising areas of cooperation between Ukraine and NATO.
As Ukrinform reported, Syrskyi shared with his colleagues from the NATO Military Committee his vision of the Russian army's likely plans and the steps the Armed Forces of Ukraine will take to counteract their implementation.
