Amman, Feb. 7 (Petra)-- Minister of labor Khaled Bakkar and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC), Mohammad Thneibat, visited Wadi Al Abyad mine.
Al-Bakkar and Dhneibat talked about striking a deal to hire 250 Jordanians for the Ideal Company's project in the near future, the Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
During their visit to one of the schools in Al-Hasa, Al-Bakkar and Dhneibat talked about the need to coordinate with the Ministry of Education and the Vocational Training Corporation to turn it into a prestigious training facility for youth in the technical and auxiliary occupations required by the mining industry and phosphate mines.
Al-Bakkar was briefed on the state of the mines and the makeup of the workforce during the visit, with a focus on the necessity of hiring more Jordanian workers who have been qualified for technical mining-related occupations in the three phosphate mines located in Wadi Al-Abyad, Al-Hasa, and Al-Shidiya.
Al-Bakkar listened to the Director of the Phosphate Mines Company, Mahmoud Al-Jaradin, and Rami Fakhouri, the Managing Director at Ideal Development for Manufacturing Industries, about the type of labor that works for them and the possibility of increasing the Jordanian labor, in front of the Secretary-General of the Ministry, Farouk Al-Hadidi, the Director-General of the Vocational Training Corporation, Ahmed Ghraibeh, and the Director of the Inspection Department at the Ministry, Haitham Al-Najdawi.
According to Thneibat, the company has previously drawn young people from the surrounding communities to study technical specializations at community colleges through scholarships, which has increased the number of Jordanians employed in the three mines that are affiliated with the company.
