Stockholm: Sweden's government said Friday that it will introduce a bill to amend Swedish gun laws and restrict access to semi-automatic guns, following the country's worst mass shooting this week.

"There are certain types of weapons that are so dangerous that they should only be possessed for civilian purposes as an exception," the government said in a statement announcing that it had agreed with the Sweden Democrats, who are propping up the government, on a proposal to restrict access to the weapons. The country's worst mass shooting on Tuesday left 10 people and the gunman dead at an education centre.
