Investors Await More Earnings Announcements From Listed Firms As Disclosed Profits Grow

Doha: The Qatar stock exchange (QSE) index ended this week's trading down by 0.48 percent after recording gains over the past three weeks, losing around 50.96 points to stand at 10,615 points.

In this context, investment manager at Qatar Securities Company (QS) Ramzi Qasmieh told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that investors are anticipating more announcements by companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) about their financial results for 2024. He said that everyone is anticipating the release of more results from companies, noting that those that have disclosed their profits so far have recorded annual growth rates of around 4.7 percent.

The QS investment manager pointed out that investors tend towards stocks with high dividends or generous cash dividends as the general assemblies approach. For example, Zad stock topped the list of the highest-growing stocks this week by nearly 5 percent, while the Qatari Investors Group stock achieved gains of 1.7 percent, following the company's decision to distribute the full year's profits to its shareholders.

Analyzing the performance of the last session, Qasmieh noted that the general index closed down by 0.39 percent, but it was able to hold above the 10,615 point level after it had touched the 10,585 point level during the session. He saw that the rebound of some leading stocks at the close, such as 'Nakilat' and the recovery of the QSE stock from part of its declines in the auction session, enabled the index to reduce its losses during the session.
